NYFW 2020- Dion Lee

Bright, loud, and eyecatching!

That’s what comes to mind when one thinks of New York Fashion Week. “In your face” colors might be the focus for a lot of designers, but that doesn’t mean colors like gray, nude, and black have to take a back seat.

Dion Lee was just one designer who’s show beautifully put neutral colors on the front line. The sleek minimalist style of the show was dark, modern, and sexy.

Dion Lee was able to combine high fashion and street wear, showcasing trendy outfits that can go from strutting down the runway to cruising through the freeway.

Gray

50 shades of- you know the rest.

Gray is typically seen as boring to most people, however even fitted from head to toe in the color, the outfits are eye catching.

The first outfit features a blazer which goes down into a romper. The second model sported a unique ribbed top with baggy pants cuffed at the ankles. The third model wore a fitted long sleeve top embellished with copper chains and gray trousers.

The show, especially the gray section, gave off Yeezy or Kim K vibes. This style is very on trend, and can easily be pulled off by people off the runway.

nude

Play word association with “beige”; boring, lifeless, bland.

Well that was definitely not the case in the Dion Lee show. The runway models looked sleek, minimalistic, and eye catching.

The first model wore a bandage crop top paired with gaucho pants and nude sandals. The second wore a nude jumpsuit with gold detailing and a gold purse. The third model sported a ribbed sleeveless halter and khaki trousers paired with a black bad and shoes. The way the outfits were put together and paired with accessories was anything but lifeless.

BLACK

Is black always the new black?

This classic color scheme was front and center in the show. Fishnets were a key feature, taking the outfits to an edgy and risque level.

The first model wore a cropped black top with a blazer and pants which had a fishnet design on the waist. The next wore a similar outfit to one of the items in the nude section, which features a bandage cross top paired with a mini skirt and calf length boots. The last model walked the runway in a half blazer half fishnet top and black bottoms.
