NYFW 2020- Marina Moscone

The 1970s called, no one wants them back…..unless?

Don’t worry, Marina Moscone’s 2020 NYFW show was NOT a hippie dippie nod to the 70s. This may or may not be disappointing to some. The best trends to come out of the 70s were showcased in this show, from shoulder pads to fringe to silk.

Marina Moscone’s show, while being inspired by the 70s, highlights her inspo in a sleek, elegant and monochromatic way.

Simple elegance with a 70s flare was in full force during the show.

While the monochromatic coloring of the outfits, and the choice of color may seem dull; the patterns, material, and styling of the clothing made for an eye catching show.

The first image is a gray velvet suit with roses imprinted on it. The low cut of the blazer adds to the overall look and pulls it together. The shoulder pads in the blazer also shows the 70s inspiration. The sheer black fringe dress in the second photo also shows the 70s inspiration. The third image is a twist tie muted top paired with black wide leg pants.

The same outfits, but in lighter colors added a fresh look to the show.

They all showcase the 70s inspiration; incorporating fringe, shoulder pads, and silk.

The suit in the first photo has a lot of structure and shape, which was a popular trend in the 19702. In the second photo, the sheer dress with fringe has an element of elegance and sexiness without being dull and boring. The fringe adds a unique style to the dress overall. The final photo includes a dress which is modern, simple, and elegant while also highlighting elements of the 70s inspiration.

Navy blue was a huge trend in the Marina Moscone show. There were several navy blue monochromatic looks, which was a nice bit of color in the show.

The trench coat in the first image was paired with a navy blue dress and black sandals. The second model wore a long navy blue turtleneck paired with pleated bottoms. The final photo shows a model walking the runway in a simple silk dress with thin straps.

Overall these navy blue looks, along with all the other looks presented on the runway paid homage to the 70s fashion trends, while still being modern, and wearable to people today. The looks were also not dull, even though the color scheme was nude, gray, and navy blue.
